2019 Annual Traffic Statistics
Overall passengers and vehicles
- A total of 596,537 passengers used the Isle of Man Harbours during 2019, 19,468, or 3.37% more than in 2018.
- Nine of the twelve months experienced increases, with the remaining 3 months of decreases attributable to the winter period.
- Q1 and Q2, saw large swings in numbers Q1 having a 12.6% decrease and Q2 showing an 8.8% increase.
- Non-scheduled crews and passengers increased by 21.5% over 2018 with 31,407 using the IOM harbours.
- Scheduled service passenger vehicles saw little change with only 0.4% increase over 2018.
Scheduled passengers and vehicles
- Scheduled passengers in 2019 saw a respectable increase of 18% overall.
- Although March saw a large decrease 6538 this was offset by the increase in April of 6929
- There was little difference in Liverpool and Heysham traffic with 268,251 through Heysham and 268,366 through Liverpool, a difference of just 115.
- 180,879 scheduled passenger vehicles were transported to and from the Island during 2019, a small increase of just 0.4% over 2018.
Non-Scheduled passengers and crew
- Commercial non-scheduled passengers saw a solid increase of 5110 or 24% over 2018.
- Cruise ship traffic enjoyed a surge in numbers in 2019 with an increase of 22,348 or 34%.
- Whilst there was a decline in the number of support vessels of 671 or 37% the Royal Navy visits increased by over 55% with a total of 539 crew.
